Yielding no connection and not to be confused with former Glass Throat Recording artists Cedar Spirits, I’d like to take a moment and introduce the latest member of the GTR family Alex Freilich and his kindred spirited intent of sacred breath soundscapes under the moniker of Cedar Dreamer. Glass Throat Recordings is honored and deeply grateful to be releasing this monumental work known as Solastalgia exclusively through the CD and cassette formats. Showcasing all original photography courtesy of Alex, here is what Cedar Dreamer had to say regarding the journey of Solastalgia.
"Solastalgia is a new word to describe a familiar sensation: the psychological effects of living through environmental upheaval and loss. Brought into being throughout a period of intense personal anguish, Solastalgia is the darkest and most cohesive Cedar Dreamer offering to date. Slow building loops lead to crescendos of euphoric trance. Dark ambient minimalism interplays with scintillating choral harmonies. The four movements contained herein were created almost entirely by voice and acoustic instruments, without electric guitars or keyboard synths. By returning to the grounding properties of voice and breath, Solastalgia captures an intimate journey along the healing path.
The creation of this work was a bitter but necessary medicine, and it is now offered here in the spirit of the Gift."
